The eddy current rotation process replaces tedious manual sanding work

The SmartBoxBlower was specially developed for matting bumpers, wheel rims, mudguards and other small parts. Thanks to its eddy current rotation process, the system replaces almost all manual sanding work, reducing preparation time by up to 80 %. The SmartBoxBlower inherits the tried-and-tested eddy current technology from its big brother, the BigBoxBlower, which received the ‘Innovation Award Nominee’ honour at Automechanika 2018.

The process is not sandblasting. Micro-fine particles are rotated over the surface and the paint layer is virtually just ‘stroked’. A bumper is thus ready for painting in less than 5 minutes - a drastic difference to the 30 to 40 minutes previously required for manual processing. The SmartBoxBlower ensures a flawless, even surface without sanding marks and offers the option of creating specific roughness depths from P400 to P1,500. This improves paint adhesion and significantly optimises corrosion protection.

Maximum flexibility and simple operation with the FLEX rotation system

One of the outstanding innovations of the SmartBoxBlower is the integrated FLEX rotation system. This enables the operator to rotate bumpers using an electric motor and thus process them perfectly all round. The workpiece carrier has its own position for loading and a position for processing, which significantly simplifies and speeds up the work process. In addition, the machine cover can be opened completely upwards to ensure quick and effortless loading and unloading.

With its rounded design and continuous manual access, the SmartBoxBlower enables precise matting from ‘ear to ear’ of the bumpers. The operator also stands outside the cabin. This eliminates the need to wear the usual dust protection suit. This makes work fun again and, particularly with the complex geometries of modern bumpers with hard-to-reach areas, paint shops benefit from an increase in quality and considerable time savings.
